ABA Journal and
Legal Blog Watch both have stories about the online petition to improve PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records), the system operated by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts to provide online access to case and docket information from the federal appellate, district and bankruptcy courts. The petition is the work of Erika V. Wayne, deputy law library director at Stanford Law School, and her law librarian colleagues. It asks the court to make three enhancements:
1. Digitally sign document put into PACER so they can be verified
2. Make it more accessible by lowering its cost and improving its Web interface
3. Provide free PACER access to Federal Depository libraries
