Patent filed for sending scent over cellphones

German interactive services firm Convisual has announced that it has, along with ISI institute of sensory analysis and marketing consultancy, filed for a patent for applications allowing users to send scents to properly equipped cell phones. According to the announcement, "In the near future, you will have the ability to send a text message along with a whiff of a fresh ocean breeze".

I was just telling someone the other day that I wished you could take a picture of a smell. The acacias are blooming and it would nice to have that scent to pull out in winter when everything is gray...

COULD BE DANGEROUS TOO!
Imagine the problems if it automatically sends the scent of where you are....
msg sent: "Stuck at work, home in a couple of hours"
Scent sent: "beer & smoke at the local pub" - or worse still - "another womans perfume"

It would be nice to get the scent of one you love, if they were over seas or a long distance away.
