reports that Google has announced that it will launch Google Editions, an online bookstore, early in 2010. plans to open for business with about 500,000 available titles from a variety of publishers. The new service will not be device-specific so that e-books purchased through Google Editions will be available for any e-book reader. Google's e-books will be accessible through any Web-enabled computer, e-reader, or mobile phone instead of a dedicated device so that the content to be unchained from expensive devices such as Amazon's Kindle e-book reader.
